ECO-COMPATIBLE TECHNOLOGIES: SURFACE INTERVENTIONS

SURFACE TREATMENTS WITH BITUMINOUS EMULSION

Surface treatments are ordinary maintenance operations that make it possible to prolong the working life of paving, delaying the need for reconstruction. These are an efficient way of dealing with certain instabilities, predominantly branching microcracks, bitumen sweating, smoothed aggregates and the beginnings of detachment. They ensure that the conditions necessary to guarantee safety are restored and that the structural characteristics are maintained. Surface treatments with bituminous emulsion are carried out by spraying a film of bituminous emulsion on the paving that has previously been cleaned, laying a layer of grit and then compacting with a rubber roller. These operations can be repeated to obtain a repair with more than one layer.

Cold micro mat with a bituminous mortar made up of SBR polymer modified bituminous emulsion at calibrated break SLURRYVAL and a 0/6 or 0/8 mm basalt mix

ASFALTI A TIEPIDO (Warm Mix Asphalt)

Warm Mix Asphalts – WMA are asphalt concretes made with highly workable modified bitumens, that make it possible to lower the production temperatures while still guaranteeing its consistency and an adequate level of compacting up to 100°C. In warm mix asphalts the production temperatures are between 120 and 150°C with a reduction in the use of fuel of around 1.5kg fuel/T and carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere of 5kgCO2/T. As well as being an eco-sustainable technological solution, in order to prevent and minimise negative impacts on individuals, communities and ecosystems these asphalts allow increased durability, as oxidisation of the bitumen is reduced and compacting is made easier, increasing the working life of the paving and cutting down the need for extraordinary maintenance.
