ECO-COMPATIBLE TECHNOLOGIES: DEEP INTERVENTIONS

ASFALTI A TIEPIDO (Warm Mix Asphalt)

Warm Mix Asphalts – WMA are asphalt concretes made with highly workable modified bitumens, that make it possible to lower the production temperatures while still guaranteeing its consistency and an adequate level of compacting up to 100°C. In warm mix asphalts the production temperatures are between 120 and 150°C with a reduction in the use of fuel of around 1.5kg fuel/T and carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere of 5kgCO2/T. As well as being an eco-sustainable technological solution, in order to prevent and minimise negative impacts on individuals, communities and ecosystems these asphalts allow increased durability, as oxidisation of the bitumen is reduced and compacting is made easier, increasing the working life of the paving and cutting down the need for extraordinary maintenance.

  • HIGH MODULUS WMA BASE COURSE AND BINDER COURSE WITH PmB LOWVAL HM40

A high modulus complex asphalt concrete for increasing the resistance to fatigue and deformation of roads subject to high volumes of traffic (cuts down the risk of ruts, facilitates load distribution and provides greater resistance to fatigue and ageing).

COLD RECYCLING WITH BITUMINOUS EMULSION

Cold recycling makes it possible to work without heating the materials and to re-use up to 100% of the material recovered, guaranteeing not only economic and environmental benefits but also good levels of performance. In their mechanical behaviour, cold recycling mixes demonstrate a balance between the flexibility typical of hot asphalt concretes and the rigidity typical of granular materials stabilised with hydraulic binders, that make it possible to optimise the resistance to fatigue of paving subject to high traffic volumes. Cold recycling can be carried out in situ with “recycling trains” usually consisting of a spreading machine, a tanker truck for water, a tanker truck for the bitumen, a recycling machine (pulvimixer), a leveller, a single drum vibrating roller and a rubber roller. Alternatively it can be carried out at the plant with the possibility di obtaining higher quality levels through the use of selected aggregates and chippings in granulometric classes and more accurate control over the volumes of binder and water.
